An Animal Care Worker or Manager manages animal care and grooming for a retail store that sells pets or for a pet grooming business. May also provide animal care and grooming at a kennel. Works with animals in shelters or rescue organizations. Works primarily with dogs and cats. Assists veterinarians with vaccinations or other procedures; screens people who want to adopt an animal from a shelter and provides information about caring for animals.

Currently hiring for 2 full-time positions in
Animal Care:
Professional Animal Care (Dogs/Cats) experience required (Professional Experience - to include shelter, veterinary or kennel. Pet ownership does not meet the requirements of professional experience.)
Schedule:
8-5 Job Duties - To include but not limited to: Maintain a friendly environment and provide excellent customer service to all clients Daily care of all animals, including feeding, cleaning, medicating, exercise and training Person in this role MUST be comfortable handling dogs and cats Maintain grounds where dogs are - runs and play areas, by cleaning up after animals Show adoptable animals to the public. Counsel and educate potential adopters Promote all programs and services of the Humane Society of Manatee Wash and dry towels and animal bedding, wash dishes Completes all tasks outlined on the checklists in a timely matter Depending on business needs, hours may vary and be scheduled between Monday to Sunday. This job requires weekend and holiday work days.
Qualifications:
Professional Animal Care (Dogs/Cats) experience required (Professional Experience - to include shelter, veterinary or kennel. Pet ownership does not meet the requirements of professional experience.) Ability to present information concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing Ability to communicate skillfully and effectively with culturally diverse clients, volunteers, staff and the community in a professional, pleasant, and respectful manner at all times Capability to maintain a professional appearance and provide a positive company image at all times Must be able to work as a team player Must have reliable transportation Must be 18+ Bilingual (Spanish) a plus Computer skills a plus
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work with cleaning products Able to work Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays Standing/sitting for extended periods of time Exposure to high noise levels & extreme temperatures Subject to animal bites or scratches Exposure to hazardous chemicals Able to lift 50lbs Exposure to hazards associated with difficult animal
Pay:
$16.00 per hour
