Duties Provide comprehensive daily care for exotic animals, including feeding, cleaning enclosures, and monitoring health status Assist with animal handling, restraint, and behavior management to ensure safety for both animals and staff Support veterinary procedures such as medication administration, IV insertion, catheterization, and surgical assistance when needed Maintain accurate record keeping of animal health, behavior observations, and treatment logs using veterinary terminology Implement enrichment activities to promote natural behaviors and mental stimulation for each species Follow strict protocols for the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) during all handling and cleaning tasks Ensure enclosures are hygienic by performing regular cleaning and sanitation in accordance with animal husbandry standards Experience Prior kennel experience or animal handling background preferred; experience with exotic or wildlife animals is a plus Veterinary technician or veterinary clinic experience highly desirable, especially with critical care procedures Familiarity with veterinary terminology, medication administration, IV insertion, and record keeping practices Hands-on experience with animal restraint techniques and behavior management strategies Knowledge of animal physiology, anatomy, and welfare principles specific to exotic species Strong communication skills for interacting with team members and educating visitors about animal care Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail in all tasks This role is perfect for motivated individuals eager to make a meaningful impact on exotic animal welfare.
