An Animal Care Worker or Manager manages animal care and grooming for a retail store that sells pets or for a pet grooming business. May also provide animal care and grooming at a kennel. Works with animals in shelters or rescue organizations. Works primarily with dogs and cats. Assists veterinarians with vaccinations or other procedures; screens people who want to adopt an animal from a shelter and provides information about caring for animals.
A busy dog breeding and puppy-care facility in Dade City is seeking dependable, hardworking team members to help care for our adult dogs and puppies. This is a hands-on animal-care position involving feeding, cleaning, grooming, monitoring, and socializing dogs and puppies of different ages and sizes.
Responsibilities include:
Feeding adult dogs and puppies and providing fresh water Cleaning and disinfecting kennels, puppy areas, bowls, and equipment Washing and folding bedding and towels Bathing, drying, and brushing dogs and puppies Providing gentle socialization, playtime, and individual attention Monitoring appetite, behavior, stool, and general condition Reporting health or behavioral concerns promptly Restocking supplies and keeping work areas clean and organized Following established sanitation, safety, and animal-care procedures The ideal candidate is: Dependable, punctual, honest, and attentive Comfortable cleaning up after animals Gentle, patient, and confident around dogs Able to follow detailed instructions and established routines Capable of working independently and as part of a team Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in Florida weather Available for some weekends and holidays Able to lift approximately 40-50 pounds Equipped with reliable transportation to Dade City Previous animal-care, kennel, grooming, veterinary, farm, or professional cleaning experience is helpful, but we are willing to train the right person. Please understand that caring properly for animals requires considerable cleaning and physical work. Spending time with the dogs and puppies is an important part of the position, but this is not primarily a puppy-cuddling job. Morning and afternoon shifts may be available.
