• Best Pals Pet Resort | DeFuniak Springs, FL Best Pals Pet Resort is looking for dependable, hardworking Kennel Technicians to join our team! We are currently considering both full-time and part-time applicants . This is a hands-on, active position caring for dogs and cats in a busy boarding and daycare environment. We are looking for people who genuinely enjoy working with animals but also understand that professional animal care involves a lot more than playing with dogs. Cleaning, feeding, monitoring behavior, following detailed care instructions, and keeping our facility safe and organized are all major parts of the job. Schedule Our kennel team works two primary shifts:

Morning Shift:

6:00 AM-12:00

PM Afternoon Shift:

2:00 PM-8:00 PM We are open seven days a week, so weekend and holiday availability is required. Applicants should have reliable transportation and be able to arrive on time for early morning shifts when scheduled. Both full-time and part-time positions are available.

Pay Starting pay:

$12.50/hour + tips With tips, our kennel technicians typically earn approximately $15-$16/hour overall.

Please note:

This is currently a 1099 independent contractor position. Responsibilities Kennel Technicians are responsible for providing safe, attentive care to the pets staying with us.

Daily responsibilities include:

Feeding dogs and cats according to individual instructions Providing fresh water and monitoring eating, drinking, and bathroom habits Taking dogs outside for potty breaks and supervised play Managing daycare groups and individual playtime according to each dog's needs Cleaning and sanitizing kennels, suites, crates, play areas, bowls, and common areas Picking up after dogs both indoors and outdoors Giving baths and nail trims as scheduled Providing enrichment activities and add-on services Following medication and special-care instructions when assigned Monitoring pets for changes in behavior, appetite, stool, or overall condition and communicating concerns to management Safely handling dogs of different sizes, breeds, temperaments, and energy levels Following our safety procedures and established routines Helping with laundry, dishes, trash, and general facility upkeep Communicating and working well with the rest of the team What We're Looking For The right person for this position is: Dependable and punctual Comfortable working around dogs of all sizes Able to follow detailed instructions Observant and safety-conscious Hardworking and willing to clean Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in Florida weather Able to work independently while also being a team player Calm and confident around animals Willing to communicate directly and professionally with coworkers and management Available for weekends and holidays as needed Has reliable transportation Preferably lives within 30 minutes of our facility in DeFuniak Springs Previous kennel, veterinary, daycare, boarding, grooming, or animal-care experience is a plus, but we are willing to train the right person with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn. Physical Requirements This is a physically active position. Applicants must be able to spend extended periods standing and walking, bend and squat frequently, clean kennels and play areas, work outdoors, and safely handle dogs of various sizes.
