Dog Technicians are responsible for proper care of all dogs upon intake, including feeding, watering, enrichment and the cleanliness of pets' living spaces plus the overall shelter. Strong communication skills is a plus when interacting with adopters and volunteers.
Age Requirement:
19 years old to handle dogs.
Performance Expectations Personal Requirements:
Animal care background or dog training is preferred. Genuinely enjoys working with animals and able to handle them when stressed or ill. Comfortable handling large dog breeds. Must be available to work weekends and holidays. Schedule is flexible. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Will assist with all shelter chores including laundry, dishes and maintaining overall cleanliness of the shelter. Able to lift and carry animals and supplies up to 40lbs, walk and stand for extended periods of time and frequently work in bent positions. Maintains positive, cooperative relationships and communicates well with other employees, volunteers and potential adopters. Must be on time for shifts and provide advanced notice for time off. Supports the mission of Abandoned Pet Rescue. About us Abandoned Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Fort Lauderdale, Florida that rescues, shelters and finds homes for abandoned cats and dogs. APR provides comprehensive daily care for 35 dogs and 100 cats with our team of committed animal care technicians and volunteers. APR is a true no-kill animal shelter that has been devoted to animal welfare for 30 years.
Pay:
$16.00 - $18.00 per hour
