We are seeking a reliable and compassionate Animal Care Specialist to support the daily care and wellbeing of animals in a shelter environment. This hands-on role ensures animals are safe, healthy, clean, and enriched while maintaining a positive and welcoming experience for adopters, volunteers, and staff. You will work directly with dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments, making a meaningful impact each day.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide daily care including feeding, watering, cleaning kennels/cages, and general animal husbandry. Observe animal behavior and health; report concerns to the medical or leadership team. Support enrichment and socialization through playtime, walks, and safe handling. Safely handle and restrain animals as needed. Assist with basic grooming and administer medications under supervision. Greet and assist adopters and visitors in a friendly and helpful manner. Maintain a clean, organized work environment and restock supplies as needed.QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience working with animals (shelter, rescue, veterinary, or similar environment) preferred. Comfortable handling animals of various sizes and temperaments. Strong attention to detail and time management skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Willingness to work weekends and holidays as needed. Compassion, patience, and a strong commitment to animal welfare.CAREERXCHANGE
