An Animal Care Worker or Manager manages animal care and grooming for a retail store that sells pets or for a pet grooming business. May also provide animal care and grooming at a kennel. Works with animals in shelters or rescue organizations. Works primarily with dogs and cats. Assists veterinarians with vaccinations or other procedures; screens people who want to adopt an animal from a shelter and provides information about caring for animals.

Job Description
- Checking in Dogs
- Verifying shot records
- Handling payment
- Facilitating fun and safe play in the off-leash dog play yard.
- Engage and interact with dogs and their owners.
- Dealing with ownership complaints or problems with a positive attitude.
- Regularly demonstrating a sincere concern for the care, attitudes, and behaviors of dogs and the relationships they have with their owners.
- Observe dog body language and intervening when a dog exhibits stress signals or bullies another dog.
- Standing, running, walking for long hours.
- Constant monitoring of gates, fencing and overall security of play area.
- Keeping the yard tidy, picking up discarded trash and filling dog bowls regularly.
- Assist in picking up dog waste when the owners fail to.
- Communicate clearly with owners about appropriate dog behavior and manage their concerns.
- Take out trash at the end of the night.
- Other tasks as assigned. Requirements
- Previous kennel experience/daycare experience preferred.
- A strong knowledge of dogs & dog behavior.
- Passion for the care of dogs, no fear of dogs.
- Comfortable around dogs of all sizes and temperaments.
- Independent worker, manage your area with little to no assistance.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Reliable transportation.
- Strong communication skills.
- Must be able to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Able to stand/walk for an entire shift.
- Capable of lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds.
