An Animal Care Worker or Manager manages animal care and grooming for a retail store that sells pets or for a pet grooming business. May also provide animal care and grooming at a kennel. Works with animals in shelters or rescue organizations. Works primarily with dogs and cats. Assists veterinarians with vaccinations or other procedures; screens people who want to adopt an animal from a shelter and provides information about caring for animals.

Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Provide daily care for animals in the kennel, including feeding, watering, and exercising
- Clean and maintain kennel areas to ensure a safe and sanitary environment for the animals
- Assist with grooming tasks such as bathing, brushing, and nail trimming
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals and report any concerns to the veterinary staff
- Administer medications or treatments as directed by the veterinary team
- Assist with handling and restraining animals during examinations or procedures
- Provide basic training and socialization for dogs to improve their behavior and adoptability
- Interact with customers and provide excellent customer service, answering questions and addressing concerns
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with animals, such as pet care, dog training, or pet sitting
- Ability to handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments safely and confidently
- Knowledge of basic grooming techniques is a plus
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with customers
- Physical stamina to perform tasks that may require heavy lifting or prolonged periods of standing or walking
- Familiarity with veterinary procedures or experience as a veterinary assistant or technician is a plus
- Willingness to learn and follow protocols for animal care and safety
