Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of recent hands-on animal care and management experience. Exceptional communication skills, a high degree of patience, and a genuine passion for animal welfare.
  • Availability to work a schedule that includes nights/weekends and some holidays.
  • Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
  • Must be able to lift at least 40-50 lbs. and be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Strong understanding of animal behavior, safe restraint techniques, and disease control protocols.
  • Must be interested in continuing education and fear free handling practices.
Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the safety of the animals in our facility.
  • Ensure rigorous cleaning and disinfecting of pet enclosures, crates, runs, and play yard to prevent disease.
  • Willingness to work with dogs who have aggression and other behavior concerns.
  • Willing to use Force Free, non-aversive handling techniques. Pushing, pulling, or yelling is not permitted.
  • Must be customer service oriented
  • ability to take care of the client's needs while following company procedures. Handle check-ins, check-outs, and special pet care requests.
  • Direct communication with clients both in writing and in person.
  • Clean and sanitize food/water bowls on a daily basis.
  • Engage and supervise in play activities with dogs including fetch, exercise walks, etc.
  • Need to be detail oriented in recording information about feeding, medications, etc.
  • Operate washer and dryer to clean pet belongings, towels, etc.
  • Ensure belongings are returned to the appropriate pet and/or owner.
  • Dispose of trash and debris.
  • Empty and sanitize trash cans and receptacles.
  • Maintain the pool during pool season.
  • Monitor animals for signs of stress, illness, or injury, and coordinate veterinary care when needed.
