Animal CaretakerSUPERVISOR
Executive Director Iowa Farm Sanctuary is a farmed animal sanctuary that specializes in rescuing and caring for a variety of farmed animals. We are a non-profit organization that relies on public funding for our operations and animal care.GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Animal Caretaker will be responsible for providing essential care for the animal residents at Iowa Farm Sanctuary.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Providing fresh water to the animals. Look out for the well-being of the residents and observe for any health concerns. Maintain the hygiene of the barn with daily mucking, scrubbing and general cleaning.ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Be professional and courteous with volunteers, staff and Board of Directors
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
- Have a driver's license and reliable transportation
- Comply with all organization policies and procedures, including adhering to vegan principles while on-site
- Communicate closely with supervisors
- Handle stressful situations in a composed manner
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- High school
Diploma or GED Experience:
- Familiarity and experience interacting with farmed animals preferred
- General understanding of large and small farmed animals
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs safely
- Must be willing to carry animals
- Must be able to do a significant amount of walking, stooping, bending, lifting, and carrying objects
- Must be prepared for possible scratches and bruising injuries related to working around large farmed animals
- Must be able and willing to work in all weather conditions
HOURS AND PAY
- Part-time, 15-20 hours/wee , flexible schedule
- $14/hour
