The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for animals and the ability to provide exceptional care in a kennel environment. This role involves working closely with various breeds of dogs, ensuring their well-being, cleanliness, and comfort during their stay. The Kennel Assistant will also assist with customer service duties, providing information to pet owners and maintaining a positive atmosphere. Duration of the job will last from 1-2 months dependent on employee performance and kennel volume. Responsibilities Provide daily care for animals in the kennel, including feeding, watering, cleaning, and monitoring their health status. Handle animals with gentle restraint techniques to ensure safety for both pets and staff during grooming or routine checks. Administering medications to animals according to their scheduled needs. Perform pet grooming tasks such as bathing, brushing, and nail trimming to maintain hygiene and comfort. Maintain a clean and organized kennel environment by disinfecting cages, bedding, and common areas regularly. Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their pet's care routines, behavior, and special needs while providing excellent customer service. Assist pet owners with booking boarding, grooming, or daycare reservations. Answering phone calls and answering pet owners questions. Assist pet owners with check out procedures using a POS system. Requirements Availability on the day before, day of, and day after Thanksgiving Day. Prior experience in animal handling, kennel work, or pet care is highly preferred. Knowledge of dog training techniques and veterinary procedures is a strong plus. Ability to handle animals safely using proper restraint methods; experience as a veterinary technician or assistant is advantageous. Familiarity with pet grooming, pet sitting, or animal care practices is desirable. Physical ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) regularly throughout shifts. Strong customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure high standards of cleanliness and animal safety.
