POSITION OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSE
The Animal Care Specialist is responsible for providing support to breeding or farrowing team. Work with your manager on establishing a schedule and weekend rotations will be included. Tasks are dependent upon the department, but may include: Provide care for animals, ensuring they have access to food, water and a comfortable environment Assist with movement of animals Treat and vaccinate animals Maintain accurate documentation Assist in power washing Promote a safe work environment Maintain PQA certification status (provided on the job) Follow all SFI bio-security policies and procedures Exhibit strong teamwork, including working to achieve team goals, embracing new technologies, working on new projects, etc. Be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. with reasonable accommodation Demonstrate Schwartz Farms' values of humility, care integrity, discipline, and excellence. Advocate and engage in SFI's animal welfare policy, including promoting animal well-being, remedying circumstances which impede animal care, and properly reporting instances of mistreatment or abuse Maintain and promote a safe working environment Additional duties may be assigned as they arise
