Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking a skilled, compassionate, and reliable Dog Groomer to join our team as a 1099 contractor. The ideal candidate is passionate about animal care, experienced in breed-specific grooming techniques, and committed to providing exceptional customer service. This position involves grooming dogs of all sizes, breeds, ages, and temperaments while ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being throughout the grooming process. Tubs, tables, shampoo, and conditioner are provided; tables and tubs are in separate rooms. Key Responsibilities Grooming Services Perform professional bathing, drying, brushing, and de-shedding services. Execute breed-specific and custom haircuts according to client requests and grooming standards. Trim and file nails safely and accurately. Clean ears and remove excess hair as appropriate. Brush teeth and provide basic oral hygiene services. Express anal glands when required and permitted by company policy. Remove mats and tangles while minimizing discomfort to pets. Apply specialty treatments, including flea and tick baths, medicated shampoos, and coat conditioning treatments. Safely handle puppies, senior dogs, and dogs with special needs. Pet Care & Safety Monitor pets for signs of stress, illness, injury, or behavioral concerns. Maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary grooming environment. Follow proper animal handling and restraint procedures. Adhere to all safety, health, and sanitation protocols. Report health concerns or abnormalities to pet owners and management. Customer Service Consult with pet owners regarding grooming preferences, coat condition, and maintenance recommendations. Educate clients on coat care, skin health, and grooming schedules. Build positive relationships with clients and their pets. Address customer questions and concerns professionally. Facility Maintenance Clean and disinfect grooming tables, tubs, kennels, tools, and workstations. Maintain grooming equipment and report repair needs. Ensure compliance with all workplace safety and sanitation standards. Assist with cleaning and general salon upkeep. Required Skills Grooming Skills Proficiency in bathing, drying, brushing, clipping, scissoring, and styling techniques. Knowledge of breed-specific grooming standards. Experience with hand scissoring and clipper work. Ability to safely groom dogs of varying sizes, breeds, and temperaments. Understanding of canine skin and coat types. Animal Handling Skills Strong knowledge of dog behavior and body language. Ability to safely manage anxious, fearful, reactive, or elderly pets. Patience, compassion, and confidence when working with animals. Customer Service Skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to explain grooming services and recommendations clearly. Professional and friendly demeanor. Organizational Skills Strong time-management abilities. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail and commitment to quality work. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Professional grooming certification preferred but not required. Minimum of 1-2 years of professional dog grooming experience preferred. Experience handling dogs of all breeds and sizes. Knowledge of grooming equipment, products, and safety procedures. Ability to lift and handle dogs weighing up to 75 pounds or more with assistance when necessary. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Frequent bending, lifting, reaching, and kneeling. Ability to safely lift and restrain animals. Comfortable working in a wet and physically demanding environment. Preferred Qualifications Certification from a recognized grooming school or organization. Experience with pet first aid and CPR. Knowledge of canine health, nutrition, and wellness. Previous experience in a grooming salon, veterinary clinic, boarding facility, or pet care business.
Services Offered Full-Service Grooming Bath and Brush Breed-Specific Haircuts Pay:
$19.00 - $24.00 per hour
