An Animal Care Worker or Manager manages animal care and grooming for a retail store that sells pets or for a pet grooming business. May also provide animal care and grooming at a kennel. Works with animals in shelters or rescue organizations. Works primarily with dogs and cats. Assists veterinarians with vaccinations or other procedures; screens people who want to adopt an animal from a shelter and provides information about caring for animals.
Full to Part time kennel and office person needed. 32-40 hours per week. Must be available for all holidays and weekends . This position requires compassion and a love for animals. Summary:
Job to include but not limited to: care of animals (dogs and cats), cleaning and disinfecting kennel, feeding, exercise of dogs, maintaining strict cleanliness standards throughout kennel and grounds, reception activities include (answering phone, making reservations, assisting clients with checking in and out pets).
Kennel Caregiver:
General duties include keeping runs/cat condos clean and sanitized; exercising, feeding, and picking up after the animals; reporting the animal's condition to the kennel manager; and filling out boarder "report cards." Kennel caregivers must be available on weekends and holidays to tend to boarded animals. Kennel caregivers must have sufficient physical strength and mobility to lift and/or move heavy pets and objects. Caregivers must also possess the confidence to administer medications and the ability to monitor pets for signs of distress or disease. Kennel workers also perform many of the routine janitorial tasks such as housekeeping duties, restocking inventory, and some yard maintenance. Ability to follow instructions and procedures is a must! Major Duties and Responsibilities Be available on weekends and holidays to tend to boarded animals Clean and disinfect kennel runs and cat condos, launder pet bedding Prepare meals and feed dogs and cats Administer medications as indicated by owners and veterinarian Bring animals to and from the kennel during check-in and check-out procedures Clean up after animals inside and outside the facility Walk, exercise, and play with dogs as needed Keep exercise areas clean and help to maintain kennel grounds Bathe and brush dogs as needed Maintain the kennel as a whole by performing tasks including, but not limited to: sweeping/mopping floors, wiping counters, washing dishes, taking out trash, cleaning bathrooms, Push mowing, weed whacking, and some grounds keeping, and checking equipment and supplies Other Potential Duties and Responsibilities Greet and speak with clients and visitors Answer the phone and describe services Book reservations Check pets in and out Collect payment from customers Enter client and pet data into kennel database Skills and Abilities Carry out instructions in written and oral Regularly stand for extended periods Frequently walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch, and lift or move up to 50 pounds Maintain confidence around pets and visitors Possess basic computer knowledge and skills Possess good communication and social skills Experience, Education, and/or Training No experience required Must be reliable and dedicated person.
