Dog Groomer The Dog Spa - 3.9 Saint Peters, MO Job Details Part-time | Full-time $2,300 - $5,000 a month 2 hours ago Qualifications Sweeping Companion animal handling Nail care In-person customer service Dog handling Dog walking Communication with pet owners Stocking Full Job Description The Dog Spa of St. Peters is looking for a responsible and reliable person to fill a part-time (potentially leading to full-time) 'Dog Groomer' position! We are under new ownership since 2020, growing, and we have enough clientele to warrant another groomer (bonus points if you have more clientele to bring with you!). Must have an interest in the health and well-being of animals. Must have at least two years of experience (or APC-trained and certified or similar without experience) grooming all breeds and sizes of dogs. This is a W2, commission-paid position (customers tip as well), and commission level will depend on experience. We provide the electric lift table, equipment cart, and consumables (q-tips, cotton balls, etc.); you provide your own grooming equipment.
Qualifications include:
Ability to pass both a background check and a drug test. Ability to pass a live test (we will bring a canine in for you to groom and us to observe). Ability to converse with customers' owners regarding needs and services. Ability to stand/walk for extended amounts of time. Ability to work with a team. Ability to walk dogs safely on leashes. Ability to safely move dogs in and out of cages. Comfortable working around dog hair and dander. Ability to lift up to 40lbs on a regular basis, and up to 50lbs occasionally. A clean-as-you-go attitude is a plus. A passion for animals, and moderate experience required.
Responsibilities include:
Interacting with customers' owners to both introduce and familiarize yourself with the family, as well as to figure out desired needs/services on a per customer basis. Use of best practices to ensure a proper haircut for each canine customer based upon breed, hair type, medical conditions, etc. - We do not see felines at this facility. Cutting hair, brushing, de-matting, nail trims, ear cleaning/flushing, scissoring feet/pad shaving, and sanitary trims all as needed or assigned/required. Maintaining a calm demeanor to reduce the dogs' stress levels and provide a more positive overall grooming experience. General cleanup duties including lift table, sweeping/vacuuming, and keeping your general area tidy. General restocking/daily prep duties such as restocking consumables and station prep. Other general duties as assigned.
Work schedule:
Appointment hours are from 8:30am-2pm Tuesday-Saturday, and working schedules surrounding those hours will depend on anticipated volume.
