Foothills Humane Society Inc is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Animal Care Attendant to join our team in Columbus, NC. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of animals every single day while working alongside a passionate team of animal advocates.Responsibilities:
Provide daily care for shelter animals including feeding, watering, and cleaning enclosures Monitor animal health and behavior, reporting concerns to veterinary staff Maintain clean and sanitary kennel, cat room, and small animal areas Handle and socialize animals to support their well-being and adoptability Assist with animal intake, transfers, and adoption processes Document animal records, observations, and care activities accurately Support volunteers and staff during shelter operations and events Assist with adoption meet and greets Provide excellent customer service to visitors and volunteers Maintain a professional demeanor Assist with training of animals to further their adoptabilityRequirements:
Genuine love and respect for animals of all breeds and temperaments Ability to safely handle dogs, cats, and small animals, including those that may be stressed or fearful Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform active, hands-on work throughout the day, walk multiple miles daily in all weather conditions Reliable, punctual, and able to work weekends and holidays as needed Previous animal care, veterinary, or shelter experience preferred Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established care protocols Positive attitude and ability to work effectively in a team environmentAbout Us:
