Job Description

Job Overview Do you love working with dogs but also find yourself naturally stepping up to help others, solve problems, and keep things running smoothly? Bark & Fly Ranch is looking for a Pet Care Supervisor to support our Pet Care team and oversee the daily flow of our lodging and daycare operations. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who understands that exceptional pet care requires much more than loving dogs. It takes attention to detail, good judgment, teamwork, consistency, and a commitment to doing things the right way every single day. The Pet Care Supervisor reports directly to the General Manager and works alongside the Pet Care team throughout the day.
ABOUT BARK & FLY RANCH
Bark & Fly Ranch is a locally owned pet care facility in High Point, serving dogs and their families in Winston-Salem, Greensboro, and beyond. We provide lodging, daycare, training, and bathing, with premium care backed by real canine expertise, personalized to each dog, and with lots of space to let dogs be dogs. Pet parents trust us with their four-legged family members. We take that responsibility very seriously and expect every member of our team to do the same.
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF OUR PET CARE SUPERVISOR
As a Pet Care Supervisor, you'll work with the team to coordinate responsibilities and ensure all services are delivered as promised, and according to our protocols.
Your responsibilities will include:
Help oversee the daily flow of lodging and daycare , keeping pet safety, comfort, and quality of care at the center of every decision. Help coordinate daily team assignments for feeding, cleaning, playgroups, potty breaks, activities, enrichment, and other pet-care responsibilities. Ensure daily checklists and assigned responsibilities are completed accurately and on time. Monitor pets throughout the day for changes in behavior, eating, elimination, activity, or overall well-being. Make appropriate adjustments when a pet needs a change in handling, routine, activity, or playgroup, and involve the General Manager when needed. Help supervise safe and appropriate daycare playgroups based on each dog's size, temperament, and play style. Support lodging operations by ensuring feeding instructions, medications, activities, special handling instructions, and individual care needs are followed. Help train new Pet Care team members and reinforce Bark & Fly Ranch procedures and expectations. Provide in-the-moment coaching and feedback when you see an opportunity to help a team member improve. Recognize great work and help create a positive, accountable team environment. Review pet records and daily documentation for accuracy and communicate important information to the appropriate team members. Help ensure the facility remains clean, organized, safe, and ready for the pets in our care. Communicate concerns, recurring issues, team performance observations, and opportunities for improvement to the General Manager. Communicate professionally and confidently with pet parents when appropriate. Assist with opening and closing responsibilities as scheduled.
THIS COULD BE A GREAT FIT FOR YOU
IF... You're someone other team members naturally turn to when they have a question, and you are interested in a position with a career path that can lead to higher leadership roles. You notice when a dog isn't acting like themselves. You see when something hasn't been completed. You recognize when a teammate needs help without waiting to be asked. You're comfortable giving direction, but you don't believe leadership means standing on the sidelines telling everyone else what to do. You can be kind and encouraging while still speaking up when something needs to be addressed. And when the day gets busy, you can stay calm, prioritize, and keep everyone focused on what matters most: the safety and well-being of the pets entrusted to us.
THIS PROBABLY ISN'T THE JOB FOR YOU
IF... You're looking for a job where you simply get to play with dogs all day. Pet care is rewarding, but it's also physical and demanding. There is cleaning, feeding, laundry, poop, barking, weather, busy weekends, and holidays, while caring for dogs (and cats too!). This also isn't the right position for someone who is uncomfortable giving direction, avoids addressing problems, or sees a task that needs to be done and waits for someone else to handle it.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Our ideal Pet Care Supervisor will have: Previous professional pet care experience, preferably in dog daycare, lodging, training, veterinary care, or a similar environment. Experience as a Lead or Supervisor is preferred, though we will consider an experienced professional who is ready to take the next step into leadership. Knowledge of canine body language and behavior, with a willingness to continue learning. Good judgment and the ability to recognize when an issue needs to be escalated to the General Manager. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. The confidence to give clear direction and constructive feedback respectfully. Excellent attention to detail and follow-through. The ability to remain calm and make thoughtful decisions in a fast-paced environment. A dependable work history and willingness to work a schedule that reflects the realities of pet care, including some weekends and holidays. Comfort using technology and maintaining accurate pet-care records. The physical ability to safely handle dogs of different sizes and breeds and perform the active responsibilities of the position, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, cleaning, and working both indoors and outdoors.
READY TO TAKE THE NEXT STEP?
If you're ready for an opportunity to lead, coach, and make a bigger impact without leaving hands-on pet care behind , we'd love to meet you. At Bark & Fly Ranch, you'll have the opportunity to help create great days for dogs, support a team that cares about doing the job well, and give pet parents the trust, comfort, and peace of mind they deserve.
