An Animal Care Worker or Manager manages animal care and grooming for a retail store that sells pets or for a pet grooming business. May also provide animal care and grooming at a kennel. Works with animals in shelters or rescue organizations. Works primarily with dogs and cats. Assists veterinarians with vaccinations or other procedures; screens people who want to adopt an animal from a shelter and provides information about caring for animals.
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Dog Grooming Instructor to join our team. This part-time role is ideal for a professional groomer who enjoys teaching and mentoring aspiring groomers, including individuals overcoming barriers to employment. The instructor will model professionalism, ensure a safe and supportive learning environment, and deliver hands-on training aligned with a structured curriculum. Instruction will take place both on campus and at local correctional facilities.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
A minimum of 3 years of professional dog grooming experience Demonstrated knowledge of grooming techniques, breed standards, and animal care practices Proficiency in using grooming tools and equipment such as slicker brushes, combs, shears, clippers, and dryers Understanding of canine anatomy, health and safety protocols, and the ability to recognize normal and abnormal conditions Ability to clearly demonstrate and explain grooming techniques to students with varying levels of experience Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively mentor and support a diverse student population Ability to manage a classroom and hands-on lab environment safely and efficiently Competence in evaluating student performance through practical demonstrations and written assessments
Preferred Qualifications Preferred:
Associate's degree 5 or more years of professional grooming experience Certification in Canine CPR and First Aid Experience using learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard) and delivering curriculum-based instruction Background working in correctional or non-traditional educational settings Familiarity with current grooming industry standards, tools, and best practices Essential Duties
