  • 20 per hour, based on experience Legacy Boarding Kennel is looking for an experienced, dependable, and confident Kennel Manager to oversee daily operations and help lead our team.
We are looking for someone who is ready to take ownership, lead by example, and ensure that our dogs, customers, and employees receive the highest level of care and service. This is a hands-on management position . The manager will be actively involved in kennel operations, animal care, customer service, and staff supervision. About the Position The Kennel Manager is responsible for helping ensure the facility runs smoothly each day. This includes overseeing employees, maintaining high standards of animal care and cleanliness, assisting customers, handling office responsibilities, and addressing day-to-day operational issues. The ideal candidate is someone who is comfortable making decisions, holding employees accountable, solving problems, and stepping in wherever needed. Responsibilities Oversee daily boarding and daycare operations Supervise, train, and support kennel staff Create and maintain a positive, productive work environment Ensure employees follow company policies and proper pet-care procedures Provide hands-on care for boarding and daycare dogs Feed, medicate, exercise, and monitor pets according to individual instructions Monitor dogs for changes in behavior, health, or well-being Handle customer check-ins and check-outs Answer phones and assist customers in person and over the phone Process payments and handle daily office responsibilities Maintain accurate customer and pet information Address customer concerns professionally and appropriately Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, and sanitation Ensure the facility is properly maintained throughout the day Handle opening and closing responsibilities Make sound decisions regarding daily operations when needed Address employee performance and attendance issues Help train new employees and ensure they understand expectations Communicate effectively with ownership and management Assist with scheduling and other administrative responsibilities Lead by example and be willing to perform all kennel duties when necessary Requirements Professional pet-care experience is required. Candidates should have previous professional experience working with animals, preferably in a boarding kennel, dog daycare, veterinary facility, grooming facility, or similar professional animal-care environment. Personal or home pet-sitting experience does not qualify as the professional pet-care experience required for this position.
The ideal candidate will also:
Have previous leadership or supervisory experience Be dependable, responsible, and organized Be confident managing a team and holding employees accountable Have excellent communication and customer-service skills Be comfortable handling dogs of different sizes, breeds, and temperaments Be able to work independently and make responsible decisions Be comfortable working in a physically demanding environment Be willing to perform cleaning and hands-on kennel duties Be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, and other challenging weather Be comfortable working in a busy, fast-paced environment Have strong attention to detail Be willing to step in and help wherever needed Schedule Requirements Every weekend and holidays are required.
