Job Summary Join our team as a Kennel Technician and become an important part of caring for the small animals at Live and Let Live Farm! This is a hands-on, active position for someone who enjoys working with animals and takes pride in providing them with a clean, safe, and comfortable environment. As a Kennel Technician, you'll help with the daily care of our small animal residents, including feeding, cleaning kennels and animal areas, providing fresh bedding and water, monitoring animals for changes in health or behavior, and giving them the attention and care they need. You'll also help maintain a clean and welcoming environment for the animals, staff, volunteers, and visitors. This is a paid position in a busy, hands-on animal care environment. The ideal candidate is dependable, compassionate, hardworking, comfortable with physical work, and willing to get their hands dirty. Most importantly, you should have a genuine love and respect for animals and understand that good animal care means showing patience, kindness, and consistency every day. Duties Provide daily care for small animals, including feeding, watering, cleaning, exercise, and enrichment. Clean and maintain kennels, cages, bedding, and animal areas to ensure a safe, healthy, and comfortable environment. Safely handle and interact with animals using appropriate handling and restraint techniques. Monitor animals throughout the day and observe changes in behavior, appetite, activity level, or overall condition. Recognize and promptly report signs of illness, injury, stress, or other concerns to the appropriate staff member. Assist with basic grooming and hygiene needs, including bathing, brushing, nail trimming, and keeping animals clean and comfortable. Provide appropriate socialization, attention, and enrichment to help animals feel secure and cared for. Assist with veterinary care as needed, including safely restraining animals and helping staff with basic treatments or procedures. Maintain clean and organized indoor and outdoor animal areas, including cleaning enclosures and assisting with general upkeep. Follow established cleaning, sanitation, animal-care, and safety procedures to help prevent the spread of illness. Work cooperatively with staff and volunteers to ensure the daily needs of all animals are met. Communicate respectfully and professionally with visitors and animal owners when assisting with animal drop-off, pick-up, or other farm activities. Perform physical, hands-on work in a variety of weather conditions and environments, including lifting, bending, standing, walking, and cleaning. Skills & Qualifications Previous experience working with animals, including kennel, shelter, veterinary, pet sitting, boarding, or other animal-care experience, is highly valued. A genuine love and respect for animals, along with patience and compassion when working with animals of different personalities and needs. Comfortable safely handling small animals and willing to learn appropriate handling and restraint techniques. Basic knowledge of animal behavior and the ability to recognize signs of stress, illness, or discomfort. Veterinary technician or veterinary experience is a plus and can be helpful when recognizing and communicating animal health concerns. Reliable, responsible, and able to follow daily animal-care routines and instructions consistently. Strong attention to cleanliness and detail, with an understanding of proper cleaning and sanitation practices. Comfortable assisting with basic grooming and hygiene, including bathing, brushing, and nail trimming. Able to perform physical, hands-on work, including lifting supplies, bending, standing, walking, cleaning, and working on your feet for extended periods. Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors and in a variety of weather conditions. Able to work independently while also being a dependable and cooperative member of the farm team. Good communication skills and a respectful, friendly attitude when interacting with staff, volunteers, visitors, and animal owners. Willingness to learn, take direction, and help wherever needed to ensure the animals receive excellent daily care. Most importantly, we're looking for someone who understands that animal care is about more than simply completing a checklist. It's about patience, consistency, kindness, and helping every animal feel safe, comfortable, and cared for.

Pay:

$14.00 - $16.00 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 per week
