  • Dog Kennel attendant The Dog Kennel Attendant position requires a candidate to not only have strong animal handling and people skills, but also an exceptional work ethic in a fast paced work environment.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with people and animals alike to promote adoptions. This position requires someone who is reliable, on time, physically fit, and enjoys multitasking and staying active. This is a part-time position with a recurring year round schedule. We are looking to add a long term staff member to our dedicated team. Candidates must have the ability to:
  • Cultivate positive customer, volunteer and coworker relations through professional, courteous, and educational interactions.
  • Practice and encourage the humane treatment of animals.
  • Work cooperatively with all volunteers and staff members, recognizing the talent and commitment they bring to the organization.
  • Work alongside the front office staff during adoption hours to showcase our adoptable dogs to adopters and donors
  • Provide adequate food and water to shelter animals daily.
  • Walk dogs multiple times per day to provide exercise and time for elimination of bowels and bladder.
  • Keep kennel and outside areas sanitized throughout the day.
  • Monitor animals and immediately report health or behavior abnormalities to management staff.
  • Participate in stress and disease reduction efforts through purposeful and compassionate handling and placement of animals in the shelter environment.
  • Perform animal bathing as needed
  • Assist with transportation, training, and adoptions as requested by managers.
  • Follow established disease control protocols to daily clean, disinfect, and maintain shelter, kennels, cages, and general areas.
  • Operate laundry and dish-washing equipment.
  • Maintain shelter in an organized manner and keep supplies stocked.
  • Maintain equipment in working condition, report equipment and supply needs to supervisor.
  • Ensure a safe work environment, following all safety guidelines, and modeling safe work practice.
  • Take immediate action to address any safety concerns that could put a staff member, volunteer, customer, animal, or the organization at risk.
Work is performed in a kennel/shelter setting as well as outdoors.
Work Environment:
RBARI is a smoke and e-cigarette free workplace Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, climbing stairs, walking and, standing on feet 8-10 hours per day while performing job functions. Exposure to disinfectant solutions when cleaning. Exposure to various weather conditions when working outdoors. Exposure to unpleasant odors and noises. Exposure to bites, scratches, and animal wastes. Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds with reasonable accommodations. Consistently exposed to animals and animal allergens under conditions with limited alterations available. Available to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.   • minimum 1 year Required experience: Personal experience walking and/or caring for dogs of different breeds and sizes Comfortable working around dogs of varrying behaviors and needs Required license or certification: Clean Drivers license Must be able to pass a drug and/or background check
Work Remotely No Pay:
Position starts at $16.50 an hour. Compensation increases reviewed based on experience.
