The Grand Pawler is currently seeking experienced Dog Groomers, Dog Washers and future paid internship opportunities to join our team as we prepare for our anticipated opening in the Sparta, New Jersey area at the end of 2026. Located in Sparta, NJ, the company aims to create a calm and safe environment where pets and their caregivers feel welcome and supported. The team emphasizes compassionate handling, professional grooming standards, and clear communication with clients. The Grand Pawler continually looks for team members who are passionate about animal welfare and committed to excellent service. Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Dog Groomer role based in Sparta, NJ. The Dog Groomer will be responsible for performing a full range of grooming services, including bathing, drying, brushing, de-shedding, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and breed-specific or client-requested cuts and styles. Day-to-day tasks include assessing each dog's coat and skin condition, safely handling dogs of varying sizes and temperaments, and maintaining a clean, hygienic grooming area and equipment. The role also involves consulting with clients about grooming preferences, providing after-care recommendations, and scheduling or confirming future appointments. The Dog Groomer will collaborate with team members to support overall shop operations and ensure a safe, positive experience for pets and clients. Qualifications Strong skills in pet grooming, including bathing, brushing, and Clipping, with attention to safety and animal comfort. Experience in Pet Care, including safe handling, monitoring behavior, and recognizing signs of stress or discomfort. Effective Customer Service and Communication skills to discuss grooming needs, manage expectations, and build client relationships.
Previous professional dog grooming experience in a salon, veterinary, or pet care setting preferred.
Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and handle dogs of various sizes safely, and work in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with grooming tools, products, and sanitation procedures, with a commitment to maintaining a clean and organized workspace. Certification from a recognized grooming program or academy is a plus.
