Job Description

Job Summary:
Privately owned, quality small animal practice with a wide reputation for compassion seeks a kennel assistant. Must be good with people, comfortable with cats and dogs, physically capable, energetic, open to learning and ready to work in fast paced enviornment. Includes weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the daily care and supervision of animals in the kennel facility
  • Provide food, water, and clean bedding to animals
  • Monitor the health and well-being of animals under supervision
  • Engage in playtime and exercise routines with animals
  • Assist with basic grooming tasks such as bathing and brushing
  • Clean and maintain kennel areas to ensure a safe and sanitary environment
  • Follow established protocols for administering medications as directed
  • Hold/restrain animals for blood draws, nail trims, etc.
  • Assist doctors and technicians as needed
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in pet care, veterinary assistance, or related field is preferred
  • Knowledge of animal behavior, nutrition, and basic health care practices
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical tasks related to animal care
  • Comfortable working with dogs and cats
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
  • Excellent communication skills and a compassionate approach towards animals
