Job Description

Experienced Dog Walker and Pet Caregiver Needed - Jericho I am seeking one or more exceptionally caring, gentle and dependable people to walk and exercise Beau, my friendly 2½-year-old, approximately 31-pound Goldendoodle. Beau responds especially well to women and generally bonds with them quickly, so a female caregiver is preferred. Most important, however, is finding someone with whom Beau feels immediately comfortable and safe.
Regular schedule:
Every evening: 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Saturday morning:
10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Sunday morning:
10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. All sessions should include an appropriate combination of walking, light running, play, exploration and rest, depending on Beau's energy level and the weather. The schedule may be divided between two or more dependable caregivers. Applicants do not have to cover all seven days, but they must be completely reliable for the specific days they accept.
The ideal person must be:
Gentle, kind, patient and genuinely affectionate toward dogs Someone dogs naturally trust and respond to Experienced with active, intelligent dogs Fairly athletic and able to walk briskly, jog, play and exercise with Beau Attentive to Beau's energy level and willing to stop and rest when appropriate Highly safety-conscious and constantly aware of traffic, other dogs, wildlife, food or dangerous objects on the ground, extreme weather and other potential hazards Able to anticipate and prevent dangerous situations instead of reacting after something happens Punctual, trustworthy and dependable Willing to follow all instructions concerning Bo's health, diet and safety Able to provide excellent personal or professional references I may also need the caregiver to stay with Beau one or two evenings per week (doggie sit) after the regular 6:30-7:30 walk, usually until approximately 9:00 or 10:00 p.m. This additional pet-sitting time would be paid in addition. Compensation is approximately $20-$25 per hour, based on experience and responsibilities. A paid trial walk and exercise session will be required before a regular schedule is assigned.
