Job Description

About the Role Southampton Dog is primarily a training and educational center , and our approach to grooming reflects the same philosophy: the dog's physical and emotional well-being comes first. We are not a high-volume, assembly-line grooming salon. We believe in giving dogs the time and patience they need while also providing professional, efficient service and completing appointments in a timely manner. We are looking for a skilled, compassionate, and dependable Dog Groomer who takes pride in both the grooming experience and the finished result. Key Responsibilities Provide complete grooming services, including bathing, drying, brushing, de-shedding, trimming, clipping, scissoring, and styling. Perform nail trimming and routine ear cleaning. Provide appropriate teeth cleaning and dental hygiene services within the scope of grooming. Express anal glands when necessary, appropriate, and within the groomer's professional scope. Recognize signs of stress, fear, discomfort, or overstimulation and adjust handling accordingly. Give dogs appropriate breaks or additional time when needed while managing appointments efficiently and maintaining a timely schedule. Observe dogs for skin irritation, ear concerns, lumps, parasites, sensitivities, or other issues and communicate concerns to the team. Work with Southampton Dog trainers when a dog needs additional support or conditioning around grooming and handling. Maintain high standards for every finished groom. Dogs should leave clean, comfortable, well cared for, and looking beautiful . Keep all grooming areas, tubs, tables, tools, equipment, floors, and surrounding spaces exceptionally clean, sanitary, organized, and safe. Properly clean and disinfect grooming tools and equipment between dogs. Communicate clearly with the team regarding each dog's grooming experience, behavior, and individual needs. Walking the dogs, cleaning and sanitizing common areas used by dogs Who We're Looking For We are looking for an experienced groomer who is patient, efficient, organized, clean, dependable, and genuinely enjoys working with dogs. The right person takes pride in producing beautiful work, understands canine behavior and body language, and knows how to balance compassion with good time management. Above all, we want someone who shares our standard: treat every dog with care, do excellent work, maintain a clean and professional environment, and send every dog home looking and feeling their best.
