Position Summary Towne and Country Animal Clinic is a well-established veterinary hospital located in Fairborn, OH. We are looking for a Kennel staff team member to join our team providing superior medical and environmental care for the animals staying at our facility. Compassionate care towards our patients is our highest priority. The Kennel staff's primary responsibility is to care for the patients in the kennel, so they are properly monitored, fed, exercised, and medicated when needed. Additionally, cleaning and care of the facility to ensure it is safe, clean and sanitized. Candidates should be dependable, pleasant, detailed-oriented and enjoy interacting with animals and their families. We prefer someone with kennel and supervisory experience but are willing to train the right candidate. This position is part-time, non-exempt. Available hours for this position are Monday-Friday 1p-8p, occasionally 4p-8p. Weekend shifts are Saturday 6a-1p, 4p-8p, Sunday 6a-10a, 4p-8p. Schedule varies by the month, and is done a month at a time. Initially, this position is for 2-4 shifts a week, approximately 8-14 hours a week but may increase in the future. Due to the hours and nature of the kennel asisstant position, we are looking for an individual over 18 years of age and a high school graduate. Position reports to the Kennel Manager. Primary Job Responsibilities
- Follow disease control protocols for daily cleaning /sanitation of the hospital ensuring the highest standard of cleanliness.
- Follow safety and OSHA requirements.
- Perform daily operations for boarding animals including monitoring animals and following instructions for feeding and medications, exercising,
- Interacting with pet parents during drop off, pickups and throughout the visit ensuring patients are clean and all personal items are stored properly and returned to owner.
- Actively monitor physical health, mental well-being and behavior of all animals recognizing and charting observations, signs of discomfort, illness, and anxiety
- Handle patients utilizing appropriate low-stress, positive reinforcement, and restraint techniques.
- Cleaning and disinfecting kennel areas, inside and out
- Laundry, trash, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning of the facility
- Clearing sidewalks of snow or debris throughout the year
- Assist medical staff as needed, holding and restraint for blood draws, nail trims, radiographs etc.
- Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED, and eligible to work in the United States
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Previous experience handling animals or working at an animal hospital strong preferred.
- Must be comfortable interacting with dogs and cats under stress, frightened, and/or large.
- Must have excellent time management, organization, and communication skills.
- Must be dependable, trustworthy, pleasant, and detailed-oriented.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently.
- Must enjoy interacting with both patients and their families.
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable mode of transportation.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evening and weekends. Physical Requirements
- Handle and restrain animals weighing up to 150 pounds.
- Must be able to work standing for 4 hours.
- Must be able to have close contact with cats and dogs and be able to physically care for both.
- Perform physical duties include repetitive standing, walking, bending, twisting, and lift up to 50lbs. Must be able to grasp, hold and manipulate objects like hand tools such as disinfectant, scrub brushes, brooms, squeegees, and mops. Benefits
