The Chatty Cat Cafe is looking for a Experience Host to join our team. This is not a typical "sit behind the register and wait for customers" job — and it's definitely not a job where you spend your whole shift sitting around petting cats. This role is for someone who loves people, loves cats, thrives in a busy environment, and takes initiative without needing constant direction. Our Experience Hosts help create a welcoming, organized experience for both our guests and our cats. You'll greet customers, guide guests through the cat lounge experience, answer questions about our foster cats and adoption program, take food and drink orders, and help keep the cafe running smoothly. You'll also work alongside our volunteers to make sure daily cat-care and cleaning tasks are completed, keep an eye on the cats throughout your shift, and communicate any concerns to management. If you are shy, uncomfortable talking to strangers, or prefer a job where you wait to be told what to do next, this is probably not the right fit. Experience Host:

Greets guests quickly and starts conversations naturally Helps guests feel comfortable, including children, families, and first-time visitors Talks with guests about our foster cats, their personalities, and the adoption process Helps guests connect with cats who may be a good fit for their household Explains and enforces lounge rules kindly but confidently Monitors the lounge to make sure interactions remain safe and comfortable for both cats and guests Works alongside volunteers and helps ensure routine cat-care and cleaning tasks are completed Keeps an eye on the cats and communicates changes or concerns appropriately Is comfortable helping with basic hands-on cat care when needed Keeps the cat lounge, front counter, and retail areas clean, organized, and welcoming Takes customer food and drink orders Helps guests with reservations and questions Restocks merchandise and supplies and handles small cleaning tasks throughout the shift Supports the barista team with restocking during busy periods Jumps in where needed and stays productive without constant direction Requirements Weekend availability is required. This position works weekends (Saturday and Sunday) , along with some weekday shifts. Typical weekday shifts are 9:00 AM-2:00 PM . Applicants must have reliable, ongoing availability that meets the scheduling needs of the position. Must be at least 18 years old Must be comfortable working around and handling cats Must be comfortable with routine cleaning and basic cat-care tasks Must be comfortable being on your feet for extended periods Must be able to multitask and stay calm in a busy environment Must be comfortable speaking with strangers, children, and groups Must be dependable and able to work scheduled shifts consistently
