Assistant Manager-Animal Care

Job Description

Deschutes Pet Lodge is seeking a passionate and energetic leader to join our dedicated team to provide exceptional pet care! In this vital role, you will oversee daily operations within our pet care facility, ensuring the highest standards of animal handling, cleanliness, and customer service. Your leadership will inspire a team committed to compassionate animal care, fostering a safe and engaging environment for pets and their owners alike. This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals with veterinary experience, pet sitting expertise, grooming or boarding and daycare background. We are Central Oregon Pet's Vacation Destination! We work 4-10hr shifts per week 7am-6pm (lunch 1pm-2pm) Weekends and Holidays are required. Duties Supervise daily animal care routines including feeding, grooming, cleaning, and health monitoring to ensure optimal well-being of all pets Oversee pet boarding and daycare services, ensuring safety protocols and customer satisfaction are maintained at all times Assist with animal restraint and handling techniques to promote safe interactions between staff and animals Coordinate team lifting and outdoor work activities while adhering to safety standards Maintain cleanliness and sanitization of pet care facilities through proper cleaning procedures and sanitization practices Support pet grooming sessions and training activities such as dog training or behavior management to enhance animal comfort and behavior Provide excellent customer service by addressing client inquiries, updating pet owners on their pets' status, and offering guidance on pet care needs Qualifications Proven veterinary experience or veterinary technician background with knowledge of animal health and behavior Experience in pet sitting, boarding/daycare management, or environments demonstrating strong animal handling skills Familiarity with dog training techniques, group enrichment and grooming Ability to perform heavy lifting and outdoor work comfortably while maintaining safety standards Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members Knowledge of animal care best practices including sanitization, behavior management, and facility maintenance Prior experience in boarding, daycare, training and grooming preferred Join us in creating a caring environment where animals thrive! Pay:
From $24.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
