Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for animals and a strong commitment to their care and well-being. As a Kennel Assistant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe, clean, and nurturing environment for the animals in our care. This position requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Responsibilities Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, watering, and exercising dogs and other pets. Maintain cleanliness of kennels, play areas, and common spaces by performing regular cleaning tasks. Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to the supervising staff. Assist with animal restraint during grooming or veterinary procedures as needed. Support dog training sessions by reinforcing commands and behaviors as directed by trainers. Ensure all animals are handled safely and humanely during interactions. Assist with pet sitting services when required, ensuring pets receive proper care in their home environment. Participate in heavy lifting tasks when moving animals or cleaning equipment. Skills Strong knowledge of pet care practices and animal behavior. Experience in dog training or handling preferred but not required. Ability to perform animal restraint techniques safely. Familiarity with basic grooming practices is advantageous. Experience as a veterinary technician or assistant is a plus. Capability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) as part of daily tasks. Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members. A compassionate attitude towards animals and commitment to providing high-quality care.
