Job Description

Dog Walker Diablo Dog Martinez, CA Job Details Part-time | Full-time $25 an hour 8 hours ago Benefits On-the-job training Employee discount Flexible schedule Referral program Qualifications Companion animal handling Pet care sanitation protocols Driver's License Dog handling Performing background checks Cleaning Full Job Description If you're one of those people who spends more time with dogs at a party than people, this job may be for you. While it is a dogwalker job, it is also a whole lot more, due to the nature and variety of services Diablo Dog provides. We do a little of everything relating to dogs. We operate a small pet boutique in downtown Martinez where we also provide doggy daycare. We offer dog training services. We provide dog grooming both at our location as well as in a mobile capacity. We do neighborhood dog walks and cat visits, and our longest running service is off-leash group dog hikes. We are looking for someone who loves dogs and is comfortable with a lot of variety in your day to day work activities. We will provide transportation as long as you have a clean driving record and an active driver's license. We will provide things like leashes and towels, and water bowls and the other things you need to provide services to our clients, and they usually will provide things like doggy coats and harnesses. We do expect you to be able to pass a background check and willing to submit to one. Since we enter clients homes we need to trust you, and also ask that you only apply if you're vaccinated for Covid. The hours will be between 30-40 hours per week, and we may ask you to start work as early as 8AM and finish up as late as 6PM. While finding someone to help us Monday-Friday is our priority, though we may have some weekend availability as well. You may be asked to give rides to dogs, do neighborhood dog walks, provide cat visits, man our dog daycare, and take on off-leash group hikes with up to 6 dogs. We will train you for all of these and likely ask you to start with the more straightforward task for giving rides for our doggy clients and doing neighborhood walks, however we do fully expect you to eventually hike off-leash with our groups of dogs. You may even be asked to talk to clients who may enter our store and sell a leash or two. Dog bathing experience is also a plus. Once you're up and running, we will expect you to provide safe, efficient, and complete services for our doggy clients. Before applying understand that you should be very comfortable with dogs, with driving, with hiking, and cleaning up after dogs. We expect our staff to be safe and gentle with the animals in our care, respectful to those we interact with while on the job, and good communicators with our staff and our clients. If you want to learn about our company I suggest looking us up on our website and social media. We are a pet company that has operated since 2013 in Contra Costa County. The owner learned the ropes on off-leash group hikes from one of the companies in Alameda County that helped establish the industry. Before that he attended animal training school and worked for a number of years with exotic animals.
