As a Pet Caretaker, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and nurturing environment that promotes animal health and happiness. The Basics Provide attentive pet sitting, feeding, and daily care for animals in their home or during outdoor walks and playtime through all weather conditions Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques and animal handling skills to ensure their comfort and safety Regularly clean and sanitize leashes, toys, vehicle, and common equipment regularly to uphold pet care standards Monitor animal behavior closely to identify signs of distress or illness and communicate findings to supervisors Treat client homes with respect, providing standard housesitting duties and maintaining cleanliness throughout services Engage in outdoor work activities such as walking dogs, exercising pets, and maintaining outdoor play areas including walking, bending, lifting, and standing Picking up pet waste, noticing changes in potty habits and shifts in personality or appearance so we can catch and address care needs early Planning enrichment for each pet with support of training knowledge and provided equipment Applying force-free, fear-free handling methods at all times Navigating roads across our service area including neighborhoods like Hillside, Highland, and Eagle River Nature Center Schedule And Pay $16-$18/hour to start, depending on experience, with room to grow Tips included, following probationary period Appreciation perks for team throughout employment Weekend and holiday availability is required, holiday bonus pay Requirements Minimum 1 year of professional experience with animals such as pet sitting, dog training, kennel work or other animal care role. Equivalent experience in fast-paced, administrative, clinical, or associates degree may be accepted Confident, safe animal handling and a working knowledge of animal behavior Ability to walk at a brisk pace, run, or job with dogs, bend, stand, and get down to floor level throughout the day Comfortable working outdoors in all kinds of Alaska weather Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with pet owners and teammates A reliable vehicle that can safely transport dogs and other pets and handle Alaska roads and terrain year-round A valid driver's license and adequate vehicle insurance A clean background check and driving record - no exceptions A smartphone with quality photo capabilities, and comfort using apps. Pay:

We offer services 7 days a week between 6am and 10pm. Please share your days and times of availability. This job requires use of a personal vehicle, including regular transporting dogs for walks at various parks and trails. Do you posses a reliable vehicle capable of navigating roads throughout Anchorage and Eagle River in all weather conditions? Scenario 1: You have walked the same dog three times a week for two months. Today he isn't interested in his favorite toy, he's slow on the walk, and he keeps licking one paw. 1. Is there anything that points out as a concern to you in this scenario? 2. How would you handle the rest of the visit? Scenario 2: You're 20 minutes behind on an icy evening route with four visits left. At your current visit, the dog has vomited and seems low energy. Your next client's pet needs medication at a set time.
