Job Description

Kennel Technician - Cat Sanctuary (Ravenel, SC) The Charleston Animal Society is looking for a dedicated Kennel Technician for our Bear Greer Memorial Cat Sanctuary in Ravenel, SC. This part-time position pays $15/hr and includes benefits. The schedule is 8am - 5pm, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. This hands-on role involves daily care, feeding, and lots of cleaning of both indoor and outdoor habitats for feral cats and dog kennels. The position involves working outdoors year-round, regardless of weather conditions. A majority of the work will take place outdoors in a heavily wooded environment. Candidates must have the ability to work in the heat and humidity of summer, as well as in colder winter temperatures. Summers are very hot and muggy.
Key Responsibilities:
Care and cleaning for about 150 cats daily, plus 6 dogs and livestock. Perform daily rounds, animal care, handling, and enrichment. Administer medical treatments as directed by the veterinarian. Transport sick or injured animals for treatment or euthanasia. Handle and catch feral/unsocialized cats, or be willing to learn. Clean and disinfect habitats and kennels. Maintain animal records using PetPoint software. Recognize and respond to animal behavior, including aggression or fear. Physically demanding role requiring the ability to lift 50 lbs and work in various postures for extended periods.
Qualifications:
Strong reflexes, animal restraint skills, and willingness to ask for help when needed. Ability to work independently in an outdoor setting. Comfortable using computer systems to track animal care. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check. This is a rewarding role for those passionate about animal welfare.
