Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care to animals in our facility, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and possess the skills necessary to handle various breeds and temperaments effectively. Responsibilities Provide daily care for animals including feeding, bathing, and exercising dogs and other pets. Maintain cleanliness of kennels, play areas, and common spaces to ensure a hygienic environment. Monitor animal behavior and health, reporting any concerns to the veterinary staff or management. Handle animals safely using appropriate restraint techniques when necessary. Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with pet owners regarding their pets' needs and well-being. Support grooming activities as required, ensuring pets are clean and presentable. Assist in the intake process of new animals, ensuring proper documentation and care instructions are followed. Skills Experience in dog handling and animal care is essential; kennel experience is preferred. Familiarity with veterinary practices or experience as a veterinary technician or assistant is highly desirable. Ability to perform heavy lifting when handling larger breeds or moving equipment. Strong customer service skills to interact positively with pet owners and team members. Knowledge of animal training techniques is a plus; certification in dog training is advantageous. Proficiency in pet grooming techniques will be beneficial for maintaining the appearance of the animals in our care. Excellent communication skills to effectively relay information about animal health and behavior to staff and clients.
