This is a hands-on, hourly leadership position — not a desk-management job. Our Team Leads work alongside the rest of our team throughout the day while also helping direct operations, support employees, solve problems, assist with Pet Parent relationships, and make sure our dogs receive safe, consistent, high-quality care. We're looking for people who stay calm when things get hectic, communicate clearly, take ownership, and naturally become someone others can rely on. Previous pet-care experience is helpful, but it isn't required. Leadership ability, maturity, reliability, and good judgment matter more to us than having the perfect résumé. Candidates with experience in hospitality, restaurants, retail, childcare, recreation, veterinary services, pet care, or other fast-paced team environments may be a great fit. What You'll Do Our Team Leads are working leaders . You'll spend much of your day actively participating in store operations while also helping lead the team.
Responsibilities include:
Lead day-to-day daycare operations, helping ensure dogs remain safe, engaged, and well cared for throughout the day Serve as the designated Leader on Duty when assigned, providing clear direction and helping maintain smooth, calm store operations Work hands-on in our Rover role, including moving dogs throughout the facility, supporting playroom transitions, cleaning common areas, and completing spa appointments Step into playrooms as needed to support staffing, provide breaks, or allow trained Canine Coaches to assist with Rover or spa responsibilities Direct, support, and motivate Canine Coaches during shifts, keeping the team organized, productive, and focused on excellent pet care Help manage daily staffing needs, room assignments, breaks, boarding responsibilities, spa appointments, and changing operational priorities Train and coach new and existing team members on safe dog handling, playroom procedures, cleaning and sanitization standards, customer service, and Dogtopia operating expectations Monitor daycare, boarding, and spa/grooming services to help ensure consistent quality, safety, and execution Perform and support spa services such as baths, nail trims, brush-outs, and other services offered by the location Play an active role in Meet & Greets, partnering with the Front Desk and, when available, the Pet Parent Relationship Manager and/or General Manager to guide Pet Parents through the evaluation process, answer questions, and help convert qualified dogs into enrolled daycare customers Communicate professionally with Pet Parents regarding their dogs' behavior, health observations, special needs, daycare experience, boarding stay, and spa services Maintain facility cleanliness and sanitization standards while ensuring cleaning responsibilities are completed thoroughly and on schedule Help respond to call-outs, employee concerns, Pet Parent issues, dog-related incidents, and other routine operational challenges Assist with opening and closing responsibilities, facility readiness, supplies, inventory, and completion of daily operational tasks Coach employees in the moment, recognize strong performance, and help hold team members accountable to safety, service, and performance standards Identify problems, take initiative to resolve them when appropriate, and know when an issue should be escalated to senior management Who We're Looking For You may be a great fit if you: Are dependable and take ownership of your responsibilities Stay calm when things don't go according to plan Are comfortable giving direction and constructive feedback to coworkers Communicate clearly and professionally with both employees and Pet Parents Can make reasonable decisions without constant supervision Notice what needs to be done and take action Can balance a positive attitude with accountability Are comfortable working with dogs of different sizes, breeds, and personalities Are comfortable talking with prospective customers, explaining services, answering questions, and helping create confidence in the Dogtopia experience Enjoy being active and working as part of a fast-moving team Are willing to clean, handle dogs, perform spa services, and step wherever the operation needs you Want an opportunity to develop as a leader and take on greater responsibility over time Previous supervisory, shift-lead, team-lead, sales, or customer-service experience is preferred, but we're also willing to consider candidates who have demonstrated strong leadership potential without having held a formal management title. This Is a Hands-On Job Our leaders don't manage Dogtopia from an office. You'll be on your feet, working around dogs, cleaning, supporting playrooms, performing spa services, interacting with Pet Parents, helping employees, assisting with Meet & Greets, and solving problems throughout the day. Some days will run exactly as planned. Others won't. We're looking for people who can help keep both kinds of days running smoothly. Opportunity to Grow We operate two Dogtopia locations in the Knoxville area and are intentionally building greater leadership depth within our organization. This position is designed for people who want more responsibility than a typical Canine Coach or team-member role and who may be interested in continuing to grow as a leader. Team members who demonstrate strong judgment, reliability, initiative, customer-service ability, and leadership will have opportunities to take on additional operational responsibility over time. Schedule Full-time availability is preferred. Candidates should have flexibility to work a combination of weekdays and weekends, including opening and closing shifts based on business needs. Dogtopia provides daycare and boarding seven days a week, so dependable attendance and schedule flexibility are important to this position. Compensation $16.00-$18.00 per hour , based on experience and demonstrated leadership ability. This is an hourly position with the opportunity for increased responsibility and compensation as leadership capabilities are demonstrated. About Dogtopia Dogtopia provides daycare, boarding, and spa services in a safe, fun, and professionally managed environment designed around the health and happiness of dogs. Our Bearden location is part of a two-store Knoxville operation, giving strong employees opportunities to learn, grow, and take on additional responsibility within our organization. To Apply Please submit your résumé and tell us briefly about a time when you had to take charge, solve a problem, or help keep a team functioning during a difficult or stressful situation. We care less about impressive job titles than we do about finding people others naturally trust and follow.
