Our team works together to maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming environment for every pet and customer. Exceptional pet care requires more than loving animals. It requires reliability, attention to detail, physical stamina, strong communication, teamwork, and the ability to follow procedures consistently. Position Summary The Team Member is a full-time, cross-trained position combining the responsibilities of: Resort Representative Kennel Technician Daycare Attendant Team Members must be capable of working independently in all three areas and may move between departments throughout the same shift based on occupancy, staffing, customer activity, and animal-care needs. This position is one step above a single-department role because it requires broader training, greater flexibility, strong judgment, and a complete understanding of daily resort operations. This is a hands-on, fast-paced position. Team Members should expect to remain active, manage multiple responsibilities, work around constant animal activity, and complete cleaning and pet-care duties throughout the entire shift. Essential ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service and Front Desk Welcome customers and pets professionally. Complete accurate check-ins and check-outs. Answer phones, messages, emails, and customer questions. Review reservations, vaccination records, feeding instructions, medications, services, and care notes. Process payments and maintain accurate records. Communicate customer instructions to the correct department. Recommend appropriate services and add-ons. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional front desk. Handle customer concerns calmly and involve management when needed. Boarding and Kennel Care Complete scheduled feedings, medications, potty breaks, walks, outings, and enrichment. Follow each pet's individual care instructions accurately. Monitor behavior, appetite, energy, bathroom habits, and physical condition. Immediately report illness, injury, unusual behavior, or safety concerns. Clean and sanitize kennels, rooms, bowls, bedding, yards, equipment, and common areas. Complete laundry, dishes, food preparation, and facility-cleaning duties. Maintain secure doors, gates, leashes, and kennel areas. Keep accurate care records and complete all assigned checklists. Daycare Supervision Actively supervise groups of dogs. Monitor body language, energy, play style, and group behavior. Redirect unsafe behavior before it escalates. Safely separate dogs when necessary. Complete daycare rotations, rest periods, water changes, enrichment, and cleaning. Maintain clean, safe playrooms, yards, pools, and equipment. Report behavioral, medical, or safety concerns immediately. Take photos and provide customer updates when assigned. Team Member Expectations Team Members must: Transition between departments without allowing safety, cleanliness, accuracy, or customer service to decline. Recognize what needs to be completed without constant direction. Stay productive throughout the shift. Prioritize animal safety and essential care. Follow written instructions, schedules, checklists, and company procedures. Never mark a task complete unless it has actually been completed. Communicate important information between departments. Remain calm during busy, loud, stressful, or unexpected situations. Accept coaching and correct mistakes immediately. Assist coworkers after completing assigned responsibilities. Maintain professional behavior even when management is not directly present.
Qualifications Applicants must:
Be dependable, punctual, and detail oriented. Be comfortable working with both animals and customers. Communicate professionally and follow instructions accurately. Work independently and as part of a team. Manage several responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. Be comfortable using computers, phones, scheduling software, and digital checklists. Be willing to perform cleaning and physical work throughout every shift. Successfully complete training in reception, kennel care, and daycare operations. Previous pet care, boarding, daycare, veterinary, grooming, hospitality, or customer service experience is preferred but not required. Physical Requirements Employees must be able to: Stand and walk for extended periods. Frequently bend, kneel, squat, reach, lift, and perform repetitive movements. Safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Handle dogs of different sizes, strengths, temperaments, and energy levels. Work around barking, pet hair, pet waste, water, odors, and cleaning products. Work indoors and outdoors in changing weather conditions. React quickly during animal-handling or emergency situations. Perform cleaning and sanitation duties throughout the shift. Schedule and Availability This is a full-time position requiring 100% open availability, 24 hours a day, seven days a week .
Applicants must be available for:
Early mornings Day and evening shifts Overnight shifts Weekends Holidays Changing schedules Additional coverage based on occupancy, staffing, emergencies, and animal-care needs Open availability does not mean working 24 hours in one day. It means being available for any assigned shift based on the operational needs of Barking Oaks Pet Resort. Reliable attendance is essential because lateness, call-outs, and missed shifts directly affect animal care and the rest of the team. Compensation Full-Time — $15.00 per hour What Success Looks Like A successful Team Member is dependable, observant, physically active, flexible, organized, and calm under pressure. They can move confidently between customer service, boarding care, daycare supervision, and cleaning responsibilities while maintaining Barking Oaks Pet Resort's standards. This position is best suited for someone who enjoys staying busy, takes initiative, works well with animals and people, and understands that every completed task contributes to animal safety and customer trust.
