Job Overview Join our dedicated team as an Overnight Pet Sitter, where your passion for animal care and love for pets. In this vital role, you will provide overnight in-home care, ensuring pets feel safe, loved, and comfortable while their owners are away. Your energetic and compassionate approach will help maintain pets' routines, offer companionship, and address their needs with professionalism and enthusiasm. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on animals' lives while developing your skills in pet handling, animal behavior, and veterinary-related care. This job would be perfect for someone that works remote and is looking to make extra money. Responsibilities Provide overnight care for a variety of pets, including dogs, and cats, ensuring their safety and well-being Must be available to spend majority of the day with the dogs. Only leaving dogs for approximately 4-6 hours at a time Administer medication or special dietary needs as prescribed by pet owners or veterinary professionals Engage in pet exercise activities such as dog walking and outdoor play to promote physical health and mental stimulation (most dogs require a 1 hour hike each day) Monitor animal behavior closely to detect any signs of distress or health issues, communicating with owners or veterinary contacts as needed Practice animal restraint techniques safely during grooming, vet visits, or medication administration Maintain detailed records of pet activities, feeding schedules, medication administration, and any observations during overnight stays Handle pet grooming tasks when required and assist with basic pet care routines to keep animals comfortable and happy Experience Prior experience in pet sitting or animal care roles is highly preferred Knowledge of dog training techniques and understanding animal behavior patterns enhances your ability to provide exceptional care Veterinary technician experience or veterinary assistant background is a strong asset for managing health-related needs effectively Experience with animal restraint methods and administering medications ensures safe handling of animals during overnight stays Outdoor work experience supports the ability to manage pets during outdoor activities and supervise outdoor exercise sessions Excellent client communication skills are essential for updating pet owners about their pets' well-being and any concerns that arise overnight Physical capability for heavy lifting when necessary for pet supplies or equipment handling ensures smooth operations during overnight shifts This role is perfect for motivated individuals who thrive in dynamic environments and are committed to delivering outstanding animal care.
