Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Animal Caretaker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal welfare and a strong understanding of various animal care practices. This role involves providing daily care for animals in our facility, ensuring their health and well-being, and maintaining a clean and safe environment. The Animal Caretaker will work closely with other staff members to support the needs of the animals and assist in various tasks related to their care. Duties Provide daily feeding, grooming, and exercise for animals in our care. Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff. Maintain clean and sanitary living environments for all animals, including kennels, stalls, and play areas. Assist with administering medications and treatments as directed by veterinary staff. Utilize proper animal restraint techniques during handling and procedures. Ensure compliance with aseptic techniques when working in laboratory settings or with medical procedures. Maintain accurate records of animal care activities, including feeding schedules, health observations, and treatment logs. Engage with visitors and educate them about animal care practices when necessary. Skills The ideal candidate should possess the following skills: Knowledge of equine care and handling practices. Experience working in a kennel or similar animal care environment. Familiarity with veterinary terminology and basic animal anatomy. Proficiency in animal restraint techniques for safe handling. Understanding of pet care needs across various species. Strong dog handling skills to ensure safety during interactions. Ability to apply aseptic techniques when required in medical or laboratory settings. A background as a veterinary technician is a plus but not required.
