Job Description

About the Position Waggin' Tails Pet Services is hiring a reliable, detail-oriented Dog Walker and Pet Sitter to care for established clients throughout Leesburg, Purcellville, Round Hill, and nearby areas. Most of our regular dog-walking appointments take place Monday through Friday between approximately 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. We also provide vacation visits and recurring pet care outside those hours. Additional morning, evening, weekend, and holiday appointments may be available for team members who want them. Applicants who have consistent weekday availability and are willing to help with some evenings or weekends will receive priority. About Waggin' Tails Waggin' Tails is a locally owned pet care company that has served Western Loudoun County families for two years. Many of our clients have been with us for at least a year, and several have trusted us with their pets since we opened. Whenever possible, we assign the same team member to the same client. Pets are happier and more comfortable when they see someone they know, and their owners appreciate having a familiar, dependable person caring for their animals. We are not an on-demand gig app. Our clients schedule us because they need someone they can count on. The Job, Honestly This is rewarding work. Most of the pets will be genuinely excited to see you, and you will spend much of your workday outside rather than sitting behind a desk. It is also a serious responsibility. Our clients trust us with their pets, homes, keys, alarm codes, and access instructions. Once you are assigned a recurring client or scheduled visit, the client is depending on you to arrive during the agreed service window. Pets still need care when it is hot, cold, raining, muddy, or inconvenient. Vacation visits may take place during mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Loving animals is important. Being dependable, careful, and trustworthy is what makes someone successful in this position. What You Will Do
  • Complete scheduled dog walks and in-home pet care visits
  • Follow each client's written care instructions
  • Provide exercise, potty breaks, playtime, and companionship
  • Refresh food and water when requested
  • Care for cats and other household pets during pop-in visits
  • Clean litter boxes and minor pet-related messes when needed
  • Administer approved medications according to written instructions
  • Send clients a written visit update and photos after each appointment
  • Confirm that doors, gates, and other entry points are secure
  • Protect client keys, access codes, and private information
  • Report health, behavior, access, or property concerns promptly
  • Communicate immediately if traffic, weather, or an emergency could affect a visit
  • Safely handle dogs of different sizes, strengths, and energy levels Schedule Regular availability is needed Monday through Friday between approximately 10:00 a.
m. and 2:00 p.m.
Additional appointments may include:
  • Morning visits before 10:00 a.m.
  • Evening visits, commonly between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
  • Weekend visits
  • Holiday visits
  • Vacation-care schedules requiring three or four visits per day Evening and weekend appointments are generally optional, but team members with broader availability will have more opportunities for additional hours. Hours may vary based on client demand, route availability, and the team member's schedule. Compensation and Benefits
  • $18-$20 per hour based on experience, availability, and qualifications
  • Part-time W-2 employment
  • Paid travel time between consecutive client appointments
  • Referral bonus program
  • Consistent recurring clients
  • Routes organized geographically whenever possible
  • Opportunities for additional hours as client demand grows
  • Training and ongoing company support During a consecutive route, paid time begins at the start of the first client appointment and ends at the completion of the final appointment.
Drive time between scheduled client appointments is paid. Normal travel from home to the first appointment and from the final appointment back home is not paid. Mileage is not separately reimbursed. We make reasonable efforts to organize routes efficiently and route team members toward home at the end of their work period. Who We Are Looking For The strongest candidate will be:
  • Dependable and punctual
  • Available consistently during weekday midday hours
  • Interested in a long-term part-time position
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Careful when following detailed instructions
  • Professional when communicating with clients
