This is a hands-on, physically active position that requires reliability, attention to detail, good communication, and a strong work ethic. Kennel Technicians are responsible for making sure dogs are properly cared for and that the facility remains clean, safe, and organized. This position also offers opportunities for growth within the company. For team members who are interested in dog training, we provide opportunities to learn from experienced trainers, develop hands-on training and handling skills, and gain a better understanding of canine behavior and our training system. Employees who demonstrate reliability, initiative, strong animal-handling skills, and a willingness to learn may have the opportunity to take on additional training responsibilities and advance into other roles within the company.
Responsibilities:
Animal Care Feed dogs according to established schedules and individual instructions. Provide water, exercise, potty breaks, and other routine care. Administer medications as directed. Monitor dogs for changes in behavior, appetite, health, or physical condition. Report health, behavioral, or safety concerns promptly. Safely handle dogs of different breeds, sizes, and temperaments. Maintain a structured and appropriate environment for the dogs in our care. Cleaning & Facility Maintenance Clean and sanitize kennels, crates, runs, and common spaces. Pick up and properly dispose of animal waste. Sweep, mop, vacuum, rinse, disinfect, and complete other routine cleaning tasks. Follow established sanitation and disinfection procedures. Keep supplies, equipment, and work areas clean and organized. Report maintenance, equipment, or facility concerns as they arise. Safety Follow all animal-handling and facility safety procedures. Properly secure dogs in kennels, runs, and designated areas. Maintain awareness of canine body language and potential safety risks. Follow instructions regarding dogs with specific behavioral or handling requirements. Respond appropriately to situations involving animal or staff safety. Reliability & Work Performance Arrive on time and prepared for scheduled shifts. Complete assigned responsibilities thoroughly and efficiently. Manage time and prioritize tasks appropriately. Take initiative when work needs to be completed. Follow established procedures and instructions. Accept feedback and make necessary adjustments. Maintain consistent work standards during busy or demanding shifts. Teamwork & Communication Communicate clearly with trainers, management, and other kennel staff. Document and communicate relevant information regarding dogs in our care. Work cooperatively with other team members. Assist coworkers when necessary to keep daily operations running smoothly. Maintain professional and respectful communication. Qualifications Previous professional animal-care experience is preferred but not required.Applicants should:
Be comfortable working with dogs of various sizes, breeds, and temperaments. Be dependable and punctual. Have strong attention to detail. Be able to follow instructions and established procedures. Be comfortable working independently and as part of a team. Communicate clearly and professionally. Remain calm in a fast-paced environment. Be willing to learn and accept constructive feedback. Be comfortable performing a significant amount of cleaning and physical work. Physical Requirements Applicants must be able to: Stand and walk for extended periods. Bend, kneel, squat, reach, and perform repetitive movements. Regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Safely handle and control dogs of various sizes. Perform repetitive cleaning and sanitation tasks. Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. React quickly when animal behavior or safety concerns require it. Schedule This position requires a flexible schedule. Weekend and holiday availability may be required. Reliable attendance is essential. Dogs require consistent care regardless of weekends, holidays, weather, or other circumstances.
