Our program focuses on respectful horse training practices and rider development in a supportive, inclusive environment. TanqueVerdeRidingClub.com Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Horse Trainer to join our team. This position focuses primarily on the training, restarting, conditioning, and development of horses in our program. The ideal candidate is hardworking, safety-minded, patient, and committed to humane, consistent, and practical horsemanship. Key Responsibilities Train and restart horses using humane and consistent methods Perform groundwork and develop horses for riding Assist with conditioning horses Evaluate individual horses and develop appropriate training plans Work with horses with different levels of experience, training, and temperament Prepare horses to safely and appropriately participate in the Riding Club program Monitor training progress and communicate concerns or recommendations to management Maintain consistent training practices and safety standards Work collaboratively with other staff to ensure consistency in horse handling and training Barn & Horse Care Handle daily barn maintenance including: Refilling slow feeders and grain bins Monitoring and supporting horse wellness Administering fly spray, grooming, and blanketing/fly mask care as needed Maintain clean and organized barn and tack areas Team & Member Support Work collaboratively with other staff and communicate clearly with clients Provide excellent customer service to our members Support a safe and welcoming environment for horses, riders, and members Required Qualifications Demonstrated experience in horse training, including restarting and groundwork Working knowledge of western riding and horsemanship Ability to safely handle horses with different temperaments and training levels Ability to lift and move 3-string hay bales (up to 100 lbs) when necessary Comfortable working around adults and children in a barn environment Positive, team-oriented attitude with excellent communication skills Able to work mornings and evenings (or as our seasons require) Dependability, punctuality, and professionalism Preferred Qualifications Experience training young, green, difficult, or restarting horses Experience developing horses for western riding Compensation Hourly wage commensurate with experience.
