Job Description
Overview We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Dog Trainer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal handling and a genuine love for dogs. As a Dog Trainer, you will be responsible for teaching obedience, socialization, and specialized training techniques to dogs of various breeds and temperaments. We are a Positive Reinforcement Training facility. You will work closely with both the dogs and their owners to ensure effective communication and understanding, fostering a positive relationship between them. Duties Conduct individual and group training sessions for dogs, focusing on obedience commands, behavioral modification, and socialization skills. Assess each dog's temperament and tailor training methods to meet their specific needs. Provide guidance and support to dog owners on training techniques, care practices, and behavioral issues. Maintain a safe and clean training environment for both dogs and clients. Document each dog's progress and communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their development. Utilize positive reinforcement techniques to encourage desired behaviors in dogs. Collaborate with veterinary professionals when necessary to address any health or behavioral concerns related to the dogs in training. Qualifications Dog training certification in progress or completed is required. Experience in animal handling or pet care is essential; prior experience as a kennel worker, veterinary technician, or veterinary assistant is highly desirable. Strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with pet owners and address their concerns. Ability to perform heavy lifting as required during training sessions or while managing multiple dogs. Knowledge of various dog breeds, behaviors, and training methods is preferred. Familiarity with animal restraint techniques is an asset. A genuine love for animals and commitment to their well-being is crucial for success in this role.
