We are looking for a motivated Apprentice Dog Trainer / Kennel Technician who wants to build a career working professionally with dogs. This is a hands-on, entry-level position. You will begin by learning our standards for dog handling, kennel care, safety, feeding, exercise, sanitation, and daily operations. As you demonstrate reliability, good judgment, and proficiency, you will be given opportunities to learn and perform more advanced dog-training responsibilities. Professional dog-training experience is not required. We are more interested in your attitude, work ethic, reliability, ability to follow directions, and willingness to learn. Responsibilities Provide daily care for dogs in our training programs Clean and sanitize kennels, crates, training areas, and equipment Feed, water, exercise, and properly handle dogs according to established procedures Follow individual feeding, medication, and care instructions accurately Maintain a clean, organized, and safe facility Learn proper leash handling and dog-management techniques Assist professional trainers with training sessions and daily routines Learn and follow our dog-training systems and procedures Observe canine behavior and communicate concerns to trainers Document assigned care and training activities accurately Help prepare dogs and equipment for training sessions Follow safety procedures around dogs of different breeds, sizes, and temperaments Communicate professionally with trainers, management, and clients Complete opening, closing, cleaning, and facility-maintenance responsibilities as assigned What We're Looking For The right candidate is: Dependable and punctual Coachable and willing to receive feedback Comfortable working around dogs of all sizes Calm and confident around energetic or challenging dogs Detail-oriented and able to follow written procedures Comfortable cleaning kennels and handling dog waste Physically capable of working on their feet and performing an active job Able to work independently after being trained Professional with customers and coworkers Interested in developing professional dog-training skills Willing to work some weekends and holidays as required Previous kennel, veterinary, animal-care, grooming, shelter, or dog-training experience is helpful but not required .
Pay:
$19.00 - $26.00 per hour Expected hours: 30.0 - 40.0 per week
