Job Description

Kennel Technician 1 — Part-Time Canine CellMates | Atlanta, GA About Canine CellMates Canine CellMates is an Atlanta nonprofit with a unique mission: Utilizing Shelter Dogs to Break the Cycle of Incarceration. Through our Beyond The Bars program, we bring together shelter dogs in need of homes and justice-involved men working to build better futures. Our dogs live and train at our West Midtown facility while preparing for adoption. We are looking for a dependable, hardworking Kennel Technician 1 to help us keep their environment clean, safe, and comfortable. About the Position Let's be upfront: this is primarily a cleaning position. Our Kennel Tech 1 team members are responsible for keeping kennels and dog areas clean and sanitary. There will be some interaction with some very cute dogs along the way, but this is not a dog-handling or dog-training position. If you are looking for a job where you spend your entire shift playing with puppies, this probably isn't it. If you don't mind rolling up your sleeves, working hard, getting dirty, and knowing that what you're doing directly contributes to the health and well-being of our dogs, we'd love to hear from you. Responsibilities Clean and sanitize kennels, crates, floors, and common dog areas Remove waste and replace bedding Wash dog bowls and other kennel equipment Sweep, mop, disinfect, and maintain cleaning standards throughout the facility Wash, dry, fold, and put away dog laundry Restock kennel and cleaning supplies Empty trash and maintain clean work areas Follow established sanitation and safety procedures Alert staff to anything unusual noticed while working around the dogs Help with other basic facility-cleaning tasks as needed What We're Looking For You do not need professional dog-care experience for this position.
You do need to be:
Dependable and punctual Comfortable around dogs of all sizes and breeds Willing and able to do physical, sometimes messy work Able to work independently and stay on task Detail-oriented—"good enough" isn't good enough when it comes to sanitation Comfortable using cleaning and disinfecting products Able to bend, squat, stand, lift, and remain active throughout your shift Someone who takes pride in leaving a space noticeably better than you found it Because our work involves both dogs and people, we also value employees who are nonjudgmental, respectful, compassionate, and comfortable working around people from many different backgrounds and life experiences.
Schedule & Pay Part-time Hours:
8:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.
Shifts:
Approximately 2-4 shifts per week
Pay:
$10.00 per hour
Location:
West Midtown Atlanta Weekend availability is a plus. Opportunity for Growth Kennel Technician 1 is an entry-level position focused on cleaning and sanitation rather than dog handling. However, for someone who proves to be reliable and demonstrates good judgment and appropriate skills around the dogs, this position can provide an opportunity to be considered for a Kennel Technician 2 position when one becomes available. To Apply Please submit your resume along with a brief note telling us why you're interested in working at Canine CellMates and why you think you'd be a good fit for this particular position. And yes—we really do want you to understand that there's going to be poop. :)
Pay:
From $10.00 per hour Expected hours: 6.0 - 12.0 per week
Benefits:
Flexible schedule
Work Location:
In person
