Job Description

Do you love working with animals? The Hawaii Island Humane Society is hiring for our most animal-centric position, Animal Enrichment Coordinator. Animal Enrichment Coordinator responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Daily animal care in shelter Provides physical exercise, socialization, and enrichment opportunities for dogs in the shelter Provides socialization and enrichment for cats in the shelter Participates in the HIHS Shelter Dog Playgroup program Helping Facilitate the Field Trips for Shelter Dogs program Training and supporting Behavior Volunteers using force-free, science-based methods Promoting a Fear-Free Shelters environment for all shelter animals
Qualifications:
Proficiency in using a computer, emailing, and inputting data Excellent written and verbal communication skills Experience in a related field (animal shelter, veterinary clinic) preferred Experience working with dogs and cats preferred Must be open to learning Must be comfortable working with animals, including large dogs Must be physically agile and able to safely handle dogs and cats Must be comfortable working in a primarily outdoor setting Must demonstrate compassion, patience, and empathy for others Must enjoy working in collaboration with a team
