Job Description
Overview We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Dog Trainer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal care and training, with a focus on positive reinforcement techniques. This role involves working closely with dogs of various breeds and temperaments, helping them develop good behavior and obedience skills while also educating their owners on effective training methods. If you have a love for animals and the ability to communicate effectively with both dogs and their owners, we would love to hear from you. Duties Conduct individual and group training sessions for dogs, focusing on obedience, socialization, and behavioral issues. Develop customized training plans based on the specific needs of each dog and their owner. Utilize positive reinforcement techniques to encourage desired behaviors in dogs. Monitor progress of training sessions and adjust methods as necessary to ensure effectiveness. Provide guidance to dog owners on proper handling techniques and ongoing training practices. Maintain accurate records of each dog's training progress and any behavioral concerns. Collaborate with veterinary technicians or assistants when necessary to address health-related issues impacting behavior. Ensure a safe and clean environment for both dogs and clients during training sessions. Requirements Previous experience in dog training or a related field such as veterinary technician, veterinary assistant, kennel work, or pet sitting is required. Strong knowledge of animal behavior and effective training techniques. Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with dog owners. Ability to handle various breeds and temperaments of dogs safely and compassionately. A genuine passion for animal care and welfare. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple training sessions effectively. Certification from a recognized dog training program is a plus but not required.
