Job Description

Overview The Handler plays a crucial role in ensuring the well-being and safety of animals in our care. This position involves a variety of responsibilities related to animal handling and care, making it ideal for individuals who are passionate about working with pets and have experience in animal care settings. Handlers are expected to maintain a clean and safe environment for the animals while providing them with the attention and care they need. Duties Daily handling Cleaning cages and kennels Administering medication as needed Providing animals with food and water on a regular schedule including house cats Providing exercise and playtime for dogs Take dogs out to potty Monitoring the health and welfare of animals in the kennel Maintaining accurate records of animals and their care Maintain an organized and orderly working space. Ensuring all tools are put away in the appropriate area. Other duties as assigned Skills Ability to use animal restraint techniques effectively and humanely when necessary. Competence in animal handling for cats and dogs, ensuring safety for both the handler and the animals. Experience working in a kennel or veterinary environment is highly valued. Prefer a minimum of 1-2 years experience in the field including experience with behavioral specialty dogs. High school diploma or equivalent desired.
