Job Description
The Posh Pup is looking for a Part-Time Puppy Trainer to join our team and help lead our structured puppy program. This position is focused specifically on puppies and young dogs who need additional support with socialization, appropriate play, basic manners, impulse control, and learning how to settle around other dogs. Our goal is to provide puppies with a smaller, trainer-led environment that helps prepare them for successful daycare participation and everyday life. This position has significant room to grow , with the opportunity to help develop and expand additional training services as our program continues to grow. Responsibilities Lead small puppy play and training groups Teach appropriate puppy-to-puppy social skills Work on recall, disengagement, impulse control, settling, and basic manners Help puppies who become overstimulated, play too rough, hump, fixate, or struggle to read other dogs' social cues Provide structured play, enrichment, training exercises, and decompression breaks Monitor puppy body language and safely manage interactions Provide feedback and recommendations to puppy owners Communicate progress and concerns with management and daycare staff Help create individualized plans for puppies who need additional support Assist with developing new puppy training programs and services as the position grows Qualifications Experience working with puppies and young dogs Knowledge of canine body language and puppy development Understanding of positive, reward-based training methods Comfortable managing small groups of energetic puppies Patient, confident, dependable, and professional Strong communication skills with both clients and staff Professional dog training experience or certification preferred, but we are open to candidates with strong hands-on puppy training experience Interest in helping build and grow a larger training program is a plus Schedule Part-Time Our Puppy Playcare Program currently runs: Monday, Wednesday & Friday 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM There is room for additional hours and growth as demand increases. The right candidate may have the opportunity to help us expand into additional services such as puppy classes, private training, group training, daycare training add-ons, and other programs in the future.
