Dog Trainer & Behavior Consultant - Full-Time Red Dog Pet Resort & Spa |

Boston, MA Pay:

$29.00-$36.00 per hour Red Dog Pet Resort & Spa, a Kindred Pet Services brand, is seeking an experienced Dog Trainer & Behavior Consultant to join our Boston team. This full-time role will primarily support our Board & Train program and other professional training services . We're looking for a knowledgeable, compassionate trainer who is experienced with positive reinforcement-based training and comfortable working with dogs with a wide range of behavioral and training needs. What You'll Do Provide positive reinforcement-based training for dogs participating in Board & Train and other training programs. Evaluate dogs and develop individualized training plans based on behavior, learning history, and client goals. Work with common behavioral concerns including fear, anxiety, leash reactivity, and aggression-related behaviors. Use evidence-based, positive reinforcement-based training and behavior-modification techniques, including desensitization and counterconditioning, marker training, humane leash handling, and functional behavior assessment. Communicate clearly with pet parents regarding progress, recommendations, and techniques they can continue at home. Maintain accurate training notes and client documentation. Partner with resort leadership, pet-care team members, and other professionals to support safe and consistent care. Follow established safety protocols and recognized professional standards of practice. Stay current on training methods, animal behavior, and industry best practices. Qualifications At least 2 years of professional dog-training experience . Strong knowledge of positive reinforcement-based training methods. Experience working with behavior modification, including fear, anxiety, reactivity, and aggression. Strong leash-handling, marker-training, and behavior-assessment skills. Excellent communication and client-service skills. Reliable, professional, organized, and comfortable working independently as well as part of a team. Ability to safely work with dogs of varying sizes, breeds, temperaments, and behavioral needs. Preferred Credentials Certification or active progress toward certification through a recognized training or behavior organization is strongly preferred, including:
