Cape Cod Dog Squad | Brewster, MA (please don't apply if you live more than 30 mins away) Cape Cod Dog Squad is looking for an exceptional person to join our team. This is not a typical dog daycare, kennel attendant or dog-walking job. We're looking for someone who wants to become exceptionally good at understanding dogs and eventually be someone we can trust with a tremendous amount of responsibility. The schedule is four 11-hour days per week, with a one-hour lunch break each day. These are long, active days, but in exchange you have a consistent three days off every week. We need someone who genuinely likes this kind of schedule and has the stamina and focus to stay sharp throughout the entire day. The biggest thing we need is attention to detail. You need to be hypervigilant. You notice every minor infringement and you address it consistently. Every moment with a dog is a training opportunity. If you have a dog on your leash, your job isn't simply to manage them. Your job is to leave that dog better than you found them. We're constantly guiding dogs toward being calmer, softer, more thoughtful, emotionally regulated and connected. That takes self awareness, patience, repetition, excellent follow-through and the ability to hold an expectation without becoming frustrated or giving up when it would be easier to let something slide. Just as important, you need to be a calm, grounded person yourself. This job requires someone who can regulate themselves when things get hectic. Someone who communicates directly when there's a problem instead of avoiding an uncomfortable conversation. Someone who can accept feedback without becoming defensive, ask questions when they aren't sure, make good decisions when there isn't a perfect rule to follow, and take ownership when they make a mistake. There's a lot of gray areas when working with animals and their owners. We need someone who can think, observe and make good decisions, not someone who needs to be told what to do every minute. You'll be handling and training dogs, hiking, working outdoors in all kinds of weather, driving dogs, cleaning kennels and vehicles, doing laundry and dishes, helping maintain the property and doing plenty of unglamorous work alongside the really rewarding stuff. Experience with dogs is helpful, but mindset matters more to us than experience. We can teach technique. It's much harder to teach someone to be self aware, observant, accountable, emotionally steady, hungry to learn, have self respect and genuinely invested in doing something exceptionally well. We're not looking for another set of hands. We're looking for someone who eventually learns to see what we see. If you're looking for an easy job where you get to hang out with dogs all day, this isn't it. Pay:

$25.34 - $30.52 per hour
