Position:
Lead Dog Trainer —
Jackson, Mississippi Goal:
Have the selected trainer fully certified and ready by February 1, 2027. Requirements & Responsibilities Must have an open/flexible schedule and not currently be employed elsewhere. Must be comfortable handling dogs of all sizes and breeds. Must be able to house client dogs in your home for Board & Train programs. Must be available to teach up to 3 private lessons per week, typically 1-2 hours each. Must successfully complete the Syke Kennels Training certification/test process. Training equipment—including crates, bowls, enrichment items, leashes, collars, and other training tools—will be provided. Accidental insurance is offered to provide coverage in the event of a serious dog-related injury. Pay First 4 months/probation: $250 per completed Board & Train dog + $55 per private lesson.
After probation:
$350 per completed Board & Train dog + $75 per private lesson. Position was structured as a cash-paid position. Client Dog Security Policy Before taking possession of any client's dog, the trainer must complete the required business documentation and Dog Theft/Security Agreement. Unauthorized possession, retention, or removal of a client's dog may result in termination and referral to law enforcement where appropriate. Please Do Not Apply If You cannot safely accommodate client dogs in your home. If your housing situation limits how many dogs you can accept, that should be disclosed upfront so scheduling can be adjusted.
Pay:
$55.00 - $75.00 per hour
